First Time Preacher

I got to try my hand at preaching a sermon today!

The pastor down at the Auburn campus of our church is on vacation and asked a few of us to fill in for him. I got the second of three weeks of guest pastors. While I'm quite comfortable speaking in front of large groups and training large amounts of people, preaching just seems to have a whole lot more meaning to it.

A little nerve-wracking, but overall pretty decent. Besides it being a little on the shorter side, I'd say it went fairly well. Not sure it's a future full-time gig though! =]

The title of the series was "Re-Gift" ... the idea that we are blessed to be a blessing. Our pastor asked each of us to speak about what God has blessed us with and how we have in turn been able to bless others. I spoke about peace. How God has blessed our home with peace and how we have been able to bless others with the peace God has blessed us with.

It was a fun experience for sure.

what was the title and subject of your sermon, Mark? a one-time shot must have been high pressure to come up with something cool. =-)

Congratulations, Mark. I got to once, also, but my sermon was at a rescue mission in Portland. You'll note that I'm not in full-time ministry - there's a valid reason for that and it shouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why. :-)
